When we last ran it we ran all the gas out of it. I just cleaned the spark plug with a wire brush, and checked the air filter, it’s clean. Could the carb be fouled up? Is there something I can pour in the 1st tank of gas to help?

This is the first start of the 8.0 HP Briggs & Stratton since June 2008. It almost wouldn’t start, but eventually it got going.

Briggs & Stratton magnetron engine will not start – will start with starter fluid – won’t keep running though. Replaced gas & spark plug, checked gas line…I think it must be something simple, but what? It’s just got a few years service on it.
